Kitchen Islands Designs: A Balance Between Aesthetic and Functionality

Kitchen islands are one of the most functional spaces inside a kitchen: they offer that extra countertop space that can contain many functions and elements: from kitchen appliances, to a sink, and they can even become that perfect everyday dining space for a quick breakfast or a takeout dinner. It can also be extremely beautiful. We will explore the different ways a kitchen island can create a balance inside the space.

A kitchen island can be a perfect element where you can create balance through properties such as materials, finishes, and even shape. It does not need to be a typical rectangular island; the island can be the result of the composition of many volumes and shapes that hold different functions like storage space.

Elegant and resistant materials on the countertop can be a great way to add a specific tone. Marble and Dekton are some of our favorites: picking a slab with small marks can be a way to combine colors, add dimension and textures, and balance out colors like black and white in other parts of the kitchen.

When the kitchen island is multifunctional, adding statement chairs for the dining area can add a pop of color, as well as a layer of details that complete the atmosphere. Through shapes, textures, and heights, the chairs can become the true star of the proposal. Accessories can also be a great way to add that special personal touch.
